The Secret Seven – by Enid Blyton

A book review by Ishaan Shenoy

My name is Ishaan Shenoy and I am nine-years-old. Today I am going to review The Secret Seven series. It is a series of 15 books by Enid Blyton featuring seven children and their dog Scamper, who solve mysteries. Their names are Peter, Janet, Colin, George, Jack, Pam, and Barbara.

Listen to the review of The Secret Seven directly from Ishaan

What I like most about Enid Blyton’s books is that it is always about mystery or fantasy. She has written over 600 books including the most popular Adventures of Noddy, the Five Find-Outers, the Famous Five, The Wishing Chair Collection, Magic Folk Collection, and many more.

Ishaan is happy showing off his Secret Seven collection!

The books I have were given to us by my father. They are a collection of five books containing three stories each. Each story is a book by itself, and about 120 pages. It took me a few weeks to finish each set of three books.

My favourite book in the series is the Secret Seven Mystery. This book is about a house owner who leaves his house empty for a few days. And then something or someone is entering the house in the nights! The Secret Seven try to solve the mystery by finding out the truth. Read this book to find the answer.

I like reading the Secret Seven because each story has adventure, mystery and suspense. I really hope you read these books and enjoy them. If you read any of the Secret Seven books, let me know. I will love to hear from you.

See you soon!

The Graveyard Book – by Neil Gaiman

A book review by Inesh Shenoy

My name is Inesh Shenoy and I am nine-years-old. Today I am going to write about The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman

Listen to the book review directly from Inesh Shenoy

This book was given to us by my father. It came in a box-set of three books by Neil Gaiman, which were:

  • The Graveyard Book
  • Fortunately The Milk, and
  • Coraline

All these three books are illustrated by Chris Riddell, whose drawings make the stories come to life.

Inesh looks at his happiest with Neil Gaiman’s books!

I like Neil Gaiman because whenever he writes a book it has out-of-the-world imagination. I have also read the other two books mentioned above, and I will write about them some other day.

The Graveyard Book is about a boy named Nobody Owens, who is known as Bod. Bod is an orphan and is raised in a graveyard.

This story is an adventure where Bod faces danger from a man named Jack. Jack has already killed Bod’s family and is now trying to kill Bod. Why is Jack trying to kill Bod is the main secret in this book. And it is rather shocking too!

My favourite part is when Bod’s guardian Silas saves him from going to jail. I like Bod so much that I did not want him to get hurt or die, because every time he is down and defeated, he gets back up and fights.

Join Bod in his adventure with ghosts, and learn how he deals with Jack. I hope you read this book because it is filled with mystery and suspense. If you read it let me know how it was for you.

See you soon.

Who Let Nonu Out? – By Anita Nair

A book review by Iresh Shenoy

Hi! My name is Iresh Shenoy and I am seven-years-old. Today I am going to write about the book ‘Who Let Nonu Out’. This book is written by Anita Nair.

Listen to the book review directly from Iresh

What I know about Anita Nair is that she has written at least two books: ‘Who Let Nonu Out’ and ‘Living Next Door To Alise’. I have read both of these books and I liked both of them.

Iresh poses with his latest two reads: books by Anita Nair

Today I am writing about ‘Who Let Nonu Out’, which is a story of a baby squirrel named Nonu. I will write about the other book another day. Nonu lives with his family and the story starts with him being sick in bed.

Nonu wants to see the world. One day he comes out of his house and then he gets lost from his family. This book is about his adventures in trying to get back to his home and family. As I was reading this book, I was worried if Nonu will be able to get back or will he die, eaten by a lion or killed by a dog.

At one time, I was so scared that I asked my father, “Baba, will Nonu die or will he go home?” I am so happy I read this book, from start to end. I think you should read this book, because it is very interesting and while you are reading you may be scared too. It is fun.

Let me know if you have read this or any other book by Anita Nair.  I want to hear from you.

See you soon!
